Intro
Tobi Osobukola-Abubu started Fritters & Roast to bring traditional Nigerian street food — vegan, made for takeout and events — to the DMV area. We were neighbors before we were collaborators.
Challenge
The brand needed to celebrate Nigerian cultural heritage authentically while being legible to new audiences. It also had to work practically: packaging that held up at pop-up events, on store shelves, ad hoc materials, and visual identity that could grow with the business.
Solution
Drew from Ankara and Adire fabric patterns for the visual language. Color palette pulled directly from the Nigerian culture. Developed the identity alongside packaging through iterative print tests and pop-up event collateral as both the brand and products evolved together.
